We Need Books!
Want to make a direct impact in the lives of local students?
Hosting a book drive is one of the most powerful ways to support Free Book Fair. By collecting new and gently used books in your neighborhood, workplace, school, or place of worship, you help us expand access to books for children at Title I schools across Sarasota and Manatee Counties.
When you host a drive, you are helping place five books into the hands of every student we serve.

We’ll send you helpful tips, collection guidelines, and simple ideas to make it successful. You don’t need a big team or a complicated plan — just a place to gather books and a heart for kids.

Promote Your Book Drive!
Let others know why this matters.
Many Title 1 schools cannot host traditional book fairs, and many families cannot afford to purchase new books. Your drive helps ensure every child can choose and take home five books of their own.

Prepare to Collect and Pack Your Books!
Set up clearly labeled collection bins in visible areas.
We welcome:

Graphic novels (Dog Man, Captain Underpants, and other popular series)

Books in Spanish and bilingual books
Books that reflect diverse cultures, experiences, and interests are especially appreciated. Encourage donors to give books they would be excited to place in a child’s hands.
Arrange for Pick Up or Drop Off
When your drive is complete, contact us to schedule a drop-off time.
We’ll provide simple instructions to make delivery easy and smooth. Larger collections may qualify for pickup support.
Note: We love using sturdy, latching plastic bins to transport and store books. If you’re collecting donations, consider gathering them in bins like these or these and donating the bins along with the books!
